The SATA Network Adapter for PS2 Fat is the modern version of Sony's original network adapter (SCPH-10281): it fits into the rear expansion bay of the PlayStation 2 Fat and lets you connect a 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive or SSD directly to the console, with no external cables. It is the essential accessory for playing from a hard drive with OPL (Open PS2 Loader), FreeHDBoot and PSBBN: faster loading, no discs to insert and your whole PS2 library in one place.

What it's for

Installing an internal SATA HDD or SSD in the PS2 Fat to boot games from the hard drive
Using FreeHDBoot to boot the console directly from the hard drive, without a modded memory card
Managing PS2, PS1 and homebrew games with Open PS2 Loader or the PSBBN interface

Compatibility

Compatible with all PlayStation 2 Fat consoles with an expansion bay: SCPH-30000, 35000, 37000, 39000 and 50000 series.

Not compatible with PS2 Slim (SCPH-7000x / 7500x / 7700x / 7900x / 9000x), which have no expansion bay: for Slim consoles the solution is booting from microSD with MX4SIO.

Supports 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives (mechanical HDDs and SSDs) with capacities up to 2TB. A 2.5" SSD is the recommended choice: silent, no moving parts and faster loading. Hard drive not included.

Installation and setup

The adapter slots into the rear bay of the PS2 Fat and is secured with the two thumb screws. To use the hard drive you then need to format it in PS2 format and install FreeHDBoot/OPL/PSBBN.
