The MX4SIO adapter for PS2 plugs into the memory card slot and turns an ordinary microSD (TF) card into game storage for the PlayStation 2. It uses the slot's SIO2 interface so that Open PS2 Loader (OPL) can read ISOs directly from the card: no optical drive, no hard drive, no cables. It is the simplest and cheapest way to play from SD on both the PS2 Slim and the PS2 Fat.

Compatibility

Compatible with all PlayStation 2 consoles, Fat and Slim, of any SCPH series: it uses the memory card slot, found on every model.

Supports microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC cards in FAT32 or exFAT format (exFAT requires OPL 1.2.0 or later). For good stability we recommend branded Class 10 / UHS-I cards; cheap unbranded cards often cause read errors. microSD card not included.

What you need to use it

A PS2 already modded with FreeMcBoot (on a memory card in the second slot) or FreeHDBoot on Fat consoles with a hard drive
OPL with MX4SIO support (version 1.1.0 or later)
A microSD with the game ISOs in the DVD / CD folder

Note: MX4SIO is for loading games, not for saves. Your games still save to a standard PS2 memory card, so the typical setup is MX4SIO in slot 1 and the FreeMcBoot memory card in slot 2.

Installation and setup

Just insert the microSD into the adapter, the adapter into slot 1 and launch OPL: the games appear in the MX4SIO list. Some titles with heavy cutscenes may show slight stutters, which can be fixed with OPL's compatibility modes.
