Many users with a modded PS3 running Rebug D-REX custom firmware (DEX) are unable to sign in to PlayStation Network and get error 8002A224.
If you've landed here, you probably have the same problem and want to know how to fix it. The fix is very simple, but it doesn't work in every case — let me explain.
Before raising any false hopes, a word of warning: if your console has been banned and you get error 8002A224, this guide will not fix it.
If your console has not been banned, however, this annoying problem is very easy to solve. Here's how.
How to fix error 8002A224
- Turn on your PlayStation 3 modded with Rebug D-REX (DEX) custom firmware
- Open the Rebug Toolbox app (easy to install on every Rebug CFW, as it is built into the firmware)
- Move to the last menu on the right, Utilities, where the last option is Change Active PS3ID
- Press X on that option and set Use EID5: 87 (CEX), then press OK
- Now hold the PS button on the controller and exit the homebrew
- When you try to sign in to PlayStation Network, you will no longer have any problems
NOTES
- If you reopen the Rebug Toolbox after following this guide, the setting will appear to have been reset. Don't worry: this is completely normal and you don't need to repeat the procedure.
- When you restart the console you will get error 8002A224 again, because this procedure has to be carried out every time the console is switched on.
