What is Aurora Dashboard

The screen you see when you switch on the console is Aurora, an alternative dashboard that offers far more features than the original one. Aurora is the evolution of Freestyle Dash (FSD), developed by the same team, and it is the dashboard we now install on every console with the RGH mod.
Its main features are:
- Launch games from an external and/or internal hard drive;
- Automatically download game covers;
- Install emulators and play old retro games;
- Install all kinds of homebrew;
- Customise the dashboard with themes and plugins;
- Much more.
You can go back to the original dashboard at any time: just press the Guide button and select "Xbox Home". The console will restart, and if you hold down the "B" button while the screen goes black, the original dashboard will open.
Setting up game paths
To see all the games stored on your external and/or internal hard drive, you first need to set up the paths.
From Aurora, press the "Back" button to open the menu, go to Settings → Content → Manage Paths and add a new path: select the folder that contains your games, choose the scan depth and confirm.
Aurora will scan the selected folders and show the games in your library, downloading the covers if the console is connected to the internet.
If you use an external hard drive, FAT32 format is recommended to avoid compatibility problems.

Copying games from PC to console
As well as copying games from an external hard drive/USB stick to the console, you can copy them directly from your PC.
Simply connect the console to your network, start Aurora and open a program such as "FileZilla" on your PC.
Set the host to the console's IP address, which is shown on the Aurora screen.
The details to enter in FileZilla are:
- Host: IP address of the Xbox 360
- username: xboxftp
- password: xboxftp
Now click "Quickconnect" and you will see the contents of your console in FileZilla.
You can copy the games into the folder you set up earlier for loading games.
Copying games from DVD to console
Insert the game DVD into the console, select it in Aurora and choose the option to extract the disc: this copies the entire contents of the DVD to the console's hard drive.
Does your console still have the old Freestyle Dash? The steps are very similar; if you want to switch to Aurora you can order an RGH mod update.
